    Painting: Henry Louis Dupray, "French Army on Manouvers," 1885. Oil on canvas, 16" x 13" (sight size), framed to an overall size of 21.5" x 18.5". The painting shows a mounted officer talking to a dismounted officer of the Chasseurs à Cheval. The painting is signed in the lower right corner.

    Henry Louis Dupray (1841-1909) is recognized as one of the "Masters" of twentieth century portraits and military subjects. He began exhibiting at the Salon de Paris in 1863 with his portraits and military paintings. He is represented in major museums in Great Britain and the continent.
