    Description

Massive Silver Mounted 18th Century Mid-East Flintlock Holster Pistol. 20" overall with 13 1/4" .65 caliber smoothbore round barrel. The upper portion of the barrel and stock are wrapped with heavily embossed sheet silver which includes scrollwork, and Islamic symbols. The barrel itself exhibits decorative engraving and, at the breech, two letters and the number 271, with a deep dark patina overall. The heavy banana shaped lock is profusely decorated with deeply engraved/chased scrollwork that is overlaid with gold. Elaborate sheet silver butt cap, with apparently the bottom portion broken off and replaced with a plain brass washer bolted in place. 2 1/4" pierced silver wrist escutcheon. Brass trigger guard and side plate. The elaborate iron ramrod ferrule is broken with the front portion missing. The stock appears to be walnut and is decorated overall with small clusters of what appear to be silver pins. Stock also exhibits some incise carving. Overall completely untouched, exhibiting decoration well beyond the norm. An interesting and impressive example of this unique form of firearm.
