    French Light Cavalry Officer's Saber, circa 1830. 34.75" bright blade etched for half its length with scrolls, panoplies of arms and stands of flags. Blade is in excellent condition with strong etching and original luster. Triple branch brass guard also excellent with an undisturbed patina. Leather grip and twisted wire wrap show minor wear only. Iron scabbard with brass ring mounts and rings. Mounted above the top ring mount is a 0.625" x 0.75" pewter rectangular plaque with the letters "U. S. C. A.". The scabbard is in excellent condition with a mostly smooth and gray finish, just a few minor areas of dark staining. Mounted to one ring is an old tag written in ball point pen which reads "Mounted Artillery Officers Saber. Carried by Confederate Officer. Letter attached states sword was taken by Union soldier from Confederate and brought north".
