    British Campaign Medal: Indian Mutiny Medal, with "Delhi" Bar, 1857-1858. Renamed, engraved "LIEUT L. F. WELLS / 2ND REGT HODSON HORSE". The ribbon fitted with a contemporary decorated suspension pin and bar. Light edge knocks and repaired suspension, else, fine.

    Lieutenant F. W. Wells was the only English officer present, and thus, the commander of the depot of Hodson's Horse at Meerut beginning December 24, 1857. By August 1858, Wells had recruited 700 Punjabis, sending 400 trained native officers and men to Lucknow.
