Antonio Elosúa Two Autograph Letters Signed and One Autograph Document Signed. Military officer of the Spanish and Mexican armies for much of his life, Elosúa's final commission was the principal command of the military troops of Texas, which he assumed on December 27, 1827, at Béxar. In this position he administered military posts in Texas, received reports from presidios in Coahuila and Texas, and reported directly to the commandant general of the eastern Mexican states. In this capacity, he wrote the document and letters offered here.

    Letter 1:
Four two-sided pages, 12mo, Béxar, June 10, 1830. Elosúa gives instructions for the care of horses, noting that extra attention must be taken to protect them from the cold weather. Letter is heavily age-toned and waterstained, but legible. Very good condition.

    Letter 2:
Four pages with content on first page only, 12mo, Béxar, January 29, 1831. With heading of military command of Coahuila y Tejas, being a routine communication about sealed paper.

One page, two-sided, 12mo, Béxar, August 8, 1832. With manuscript heading "Principal Command Coahuila y Tejas." Being a receipt for documentation concerning the indictment of Sgt. S. Martinez of the Presidial Company of Agua Verde for insubordination. Age-toned, heavy water stains and extremely faded. Poor condition. From the Taking of Texas Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
