Fantastic WWI German Artillery School Shooting Prize Utilizing a Large Camouflaged Marklin Tinplate Toy Cannon. This rare tinplate Marklin field gun measures 14½" long and is camouflaged in green, tan, and brown. It has been mounted to a 12½" x 10½" wooden base along with a 6½" x 4" brass plaque which is hand-engraved in a naïve fashion: "Ehrenpreis d. 1. Kompanie/ Preisschiessen 18.9.1917/ Lehr-Regt. D. Feldart./ Schiesschule-Jüterbog". The plaque is further accented with a small iron cross and field artillery school cipher. Just above the plaque a small cast guards' star with the "Suum Cuique" motto. The cannon appears to be in excellent condition with working elevating wheel. The wooden base shows modest wear and the plaque displays some signs of old tarnish, otherwise all components are in excellent condition.
