Early Starr Arms Company M1858 .44 Caliber Percussion Double Action Army Revolver #2488. This rather complicated double action version was replaced in 1863 by the single action version which was simpler and less costly to manufacture. This example, with its low four digit number was probably produced well before the Civil War, although doubtless saw Civil War service. All metal smooth and gray with a few scattered dents and a few small patches of very light pitting, overall very nice. Excellent bore, mechanically perfect, crisp markings. Grip with smooth even wear and just a few minor dents. A nice honest pre war Starr.
