    Confederate Veteran's Slouch Hat Belonging to Henry Kyd Douglas. Large gray fur felt slouch hat rising to 5" at the front with gray silk bound edges in excellent condition. The base of the crown surrounded by a 2" wide gray silk band and a worn black and gold hat cord with gold acorns. Pinned to the front of the hat is a brass UCV hat badge and on the left side, a brown ostrich feather plume. Interior displays a 2" wide leather sweatband with gold embossed "M/W" trade mark. The sweatband exhibits moderate wear and a few breaks. Inked on the inner body is "H. Kyd Douglas".

    Henry Kyd Douglas was General Stonewall Jackson's youngest staff member. He enlisted as a private and rose to the rank of colonel. Wounded six times and imprisoned twice. Accompanied by a copy of I Rode with Stonewall by Henry Kyd Douglas, printed in 1951, in excellent condition.
