Confederate Soldier's Letters with Slave Content. Two letters (total 4 pages, ) from CSA soldier Thad Markett to his sister Mary, dated September 7, 1863 and January 27, 1864. Penned when Markett was based in Philadelphia, Mississippi, looking for conscripts and deserters. In his letter dated September 7 (3 pages), he voices concerns that the family slaves might consider leaving: "If they are freed they had better stay among their friends... and not run off among a set of people that will take from them every dime they might make. Tell them to stay with you and talk to them how they will do when they get away from all their friends and no one to give or tell them what to do for themselves." Heavy wear, with a bit of paper loss at folds. The second letter sends news of his well being and his detail reporting: "We have but little Duty to do now the conscripts and Deserters are pretty well all caught up..."Lightly toned.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
