    A most important Confederate revolver.

Confederate Griswold .36 Cal. Percussion Revolver Serial # 8. The lowest serial # known, this gun was listed in Albaugh's Confederate Handguns book in 1963. With the possible exception of the replacement of the two rear trigger guard screws, the gun appears to be completely untouched. Rounded top barrel housing configuration, the gun exhibits the serial number on the barrel housing, frame, trigger strap, backstrap, frame, and cylinder. An upper case letter "H" is visible on the underside of the barrel just behind the lever catch. Cylinder can only be hand turned and does not rotate when cocked. Small Roman numeral "X" on the inside of the backstrap and underside of trigger guard. Double stamped cryptic marks on the back side of the frame. The gun has had a steel pin inserted/ passing through both recoil shields, obviously as the result of a cracked frame. A hair line crack is still visible on the left side of the frame. All of which testifies to the problems encountered with the very earliest production of these pistols. An iron sheet metal bracket has been added, again obviously during the period of use, at the juncture of the frame and the barrel housing doubtless to tighten the gun as a result of worn or broken frame juncture pins. Again, clearly an "in the field" modification to quite simply keep the gun in service. The wedge screw is missing, the wedge appears to be original but is un-numbered. A most important Confederate revolver and a once in a lifetime opportunity for the sophisticated Confederate handgun collector.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
