    US Model 1860 Cavalry Officer's Saber 34 1/2" curved blade etched for two thirds its length on obverse with scrollwork panoply of arms spreadwing eagle with motto above, reverse similar with script US, no makers mark. Blade is generally bright with some areas of dark staining, no pitting or edge nicks, etch shows wear, original leather washer. Excellent hilt with floral scroll work where branches join the guard, where guard meets pommel and on the face of the pommel. Quillon with flying eagle motif. Sharkskin grip with areas of wear mostly on the underside, twisted wire wrap perfect. Steel scabbard cleaned bright with areas of light pitting, minor dents near the drag, standard double ring mounts. Nice representative example of popular Civil War officer's sword.
