US Model 1851 Percussion Cadet Musket Dated 1851. In untouched "attic" condition. 40" round .60 caliber barrel dated 1851 on the tang, light pitting at the breech, rear sight missing. Balance of the metal mostly smooth with a coat of old lacquer. Lockplate marked with Eagle "US" and "Springfield 1851", working action. Sling swivel on center band is broken off, missing ramrod. Stock is excellent with sharp edges but with a few minor dents and stains, no visible inspector stamps. The 1851 Cadet with 1851 dates are well known as the weapon carried by VMI cadets at the battle of New Market. A nice honest example of this rare U.S. military longarm. From the Michael Yeck Collection.
