US Model 1840 Light Artillery Sword Ames 1854 Blade generally bright with just some minor scattered staining. Crisp markings US/A.D.K. 1854 on obverse and Ames Mfg Co Chicopee Mass on reverse ricasso. Brass guard excellent with deep patina, grip with 2 minor age line cracks with no loss, full leather and perfect brass twisted wire. Correct early pattern with the underside of guard recessed to accept the scabbard. Correct iron scabbard made without throat, smooth dark patina with just one small area of pitting near the drag and a few minor shallow dents. Nice example of this scarce early form of the M1840 artillery.
