    Description

    U.S. Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber Dated 1864 Named On Back Strap "S.H. Harder". Blade generally smooth and gray with scattered dark patches, edge sharpened. Ricasso stamped "U.S. C.E.W. 1864", quillon stamped "B.B. 39" and the back strap stamped "S.H. Harder". Brass guard very good showing minor dents, leather covered grip exhibits minor wear and a long tight crack, brass twisted wire wrap has two breaks on single strands. Scabbard dark with minor surface roughness, a few dents at the drag and one 3/4" crack. The drag also stamped "S.H. Harder". An untouched example worthy of research.
