U.S. Model 1840 Cavalry Saber Manufactured By Ames Dated 1850 Blade light gray with minor dark staining, rust pitting or nicks. Marked on obverse ricasso "U.S. A.D.K." and on the reverse "Ames Mfg Co Cabotville 1850" with deep clear letters. Very good brass hilt with one minor bend, grip shows a minor 1" hairline in the wood, leather is very good with just minor surface flaking, twisted brass wire is perfect. Cleaned scabbard mostly gray with dark patches and a few areas of very light pitting. A nice representative example of an early issue cavalry saber with desirable date.Auction Info
