Description
U.S. Model 1833 Hall-North Breech Loading .52 Caliber Percussion Carbine. 26 3/16" round barrel, breech block marked "U.S. / S. North Midltn / Conn / 1839". All metal is dark with areas of pitting at the muzzle. Fitted with functioning ramrod bayonet and implement compartment on bottom of the butt area. Action works perfectly. Stock shows areas of replaced wood on both sides at the breech and some cracks at the rear of the action, clear inspector stamp on left side. The Model 1833 Carbine is notable in that it was the earliest percussion weapon adopted by the U.S. and that most were sent west to arm the 1st Dragoons at Ft Gibson Arkansas.
