US Model 1833 Foot Artillery Sword - Ames 1842 Blade smooth and gray with some dark patches and some very light pitting primarily along the edges, correct Ames/Springfield markings and date 1842 although a bit weak. Hilt very good with undisturbed deep patina. The brass-mounted scabbard is very good with crazing to the finish but minimal flaking. Brass drag with deep patina, throat retains the original white buff leather frog. A good representative example of this classic American sword. and especially nice with the original white buff.Auction Info
