    U.S. Model 1817 .54 Caliber Percussion Conversion Rifle, R.& J.D. Johnson 1826. In untouched "attic" condition. Metal is mostly smooth and dark with scattered areas of surface roughness. Lock clearly marked "U.S. / R. & J.D. Johnson" in the center and "1826 Middn Conn" at the rear, hammer will not stay at full cock, missing its nipple. Barrel with standard proofs and corresponding date 1826. Stock displays an old undisturbed patina, scattered dents / bruises and broken toe. Beneath the stock is stamped "SB.TK" in heavy letters. Gun is complete with its original ramrod.
