    U.S. Model 1816 Springfield Conversion Musket. .72 caliber 42" bolster conversion round barrel dark with dried grease, lightly pitted at the breech and with a few deep gouges above the lock. Remainder of iron also dark with scattered light surface rust. Functioning lock marked "Springfield 1835" and "Butterfields Patent Dec 11, 1855 Philada.", tube for pellet primer runs up the center of the lock, mechanism removed, top of lock has been reshaped and wood repaired. Wood shows a deep patina, small dents, scratches and 2" crack at the upper band. Ram rod missing. From the Michael Yeck Collection.
