US M1870 .50-70 Rifle. Very nice untouched example. All metal smooth and gray with absolutely no rust or pitting. Lock markings US Springfield 1863, and door dated 1870 with eaglehead and crossed arrows. Fine markings, mechanically perfect and perfect bore. Rear sight leaf broken else complete and original in every respect including correct cleaning rod. The receiver is numbered 28851 with the number 20857 on the left side of the barrel at breech and 3324 on the right. Wood excellent with some scattered dents and a very old coat of varnish now showing some crazing, with both inspectors' cartouches visible. Nice honest gun.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
