    U.S. M1863 .58 Caliber Percussion Rifled Musket Type I, Springfield/ 1864. All metal generally smooth and gray, very fine, just some pitting in the breech area, eagle on bolster no longer visible. The breech area to 2" above the rear sight has been cleaned with naval jelly and needs to be retoned. Mechanically fine, very good markings, good bore. Wood very good, generally smooth with light patina and visible inspectors' cartouches, just one sliver on the left side of the barrel tang. The gun is complete and original in every respect and a nice representative M1863 Springfield.
