Description
U.S. M1840 Non-Commissioned Officers' Sword, Emerson & Silver/ 1863. Blade really excellent, just some patina at the base where it was apparently protruding from the scabbard, and small worn spot at the tip, else retaining most of the original luster. Hilt with nice dark untouched patina exhibiting the interesting field modification of turning down the inboard lobe of the guard to prevent it from gouging the hip, otherwise perfect. Brass mounted steel scabbard excellent, with just some dents on the lower mount and an old coat of black paint, easily removed. Nice example and a relatively scarce contractor.Auction Info
