Union Soldier Gettysburg Diary. Standard format 3" x 4 3/4" leatherette pocket diary written in both pen and pencil by Calvin H. Conant, Co. G 13th Regt. Massachusetts Volunteers. It covers the period from August 1862 through December 1863. He was taken prisoner at 2nd Bull Run, not fed anything for several days, was paroled, then awaited his formal exchange and re-assignment. The July 1, 1863 entry reads: "marched to Gettisburg 10 miles... about 1 'clock in afternoon went in to the fight. It was a a hard one & was taken Prisoner as was 40% of my reg and the rest was either killed or wounded. [July 2nd] was inside of the rebbs lines they are very kind to us. we are about 2 miles from the town. there is fighting still going on & I can't decide who is getting the best of it. [July 3rd] Heavy firing commenced at day light and was kept up all day. We were got into line and paroled all who wished to take it. Co.s A. B. & D. refused. 57 of us excepted . At 5 o'clock we started for Carlisle went about 5 miles and stayed for the night." The balance of the entries all seem fairly routine military matters, although mention is made of Warrenton, Kelly's Ford and Brandy Station.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
