Two Blank Civil War Confederate Commissions A thin faux vellum 9" X 14" document, being a commission for an officer "in service of the Confederate States" headed "The President of the Confederate States of America." Printed by B. Duncan, Columbia, S. C. Overall about perfect condition, mounted on a blank page of a Confederate Quartermaster General's requisition book and folded over. An unmounted 8 1/4" X 10 3/4" 4 page folio document, on typical light blue/gray paper, headed "Confederate States of America / War Department / Richmond........1862", being a commission for an officer, "In the Provisional Army in the service of the Confederate States". In this example the rank is filled in as "Brigadier General" with elaborate ink calligraphy, very impressive. Overall a few minor folds and small edge tears but intact and excellent. Two very rare Confederate documents taken as a souvenir at Richmond at the end of the war.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
