Lippincott & Co., 1862, 100 pp. Bound in brown cloth, light wear and fade to spine, foxing, owner's name inscribed on fly leaf ("Geo. D. Whurtin"). 2) Captain Henry Heth, "A System of Target Practice. For the Use of the Troops When Armed with the Musket, Rifle-Musket, Rifle, or Carbine", New York, D. Van Nostrand, 1862, 73 pp. Bound in red cloth, some discoloration and loss to top of spine. Inscribed by owner George D. Whurtin. Red stamp of Tuscaloosa, Alabama bookseller on front endpaper. 3) Brig. Gen. W. J. Hardee, "Rifle and Infantry Tactics. Revised and Improved. Fifth Edition. Vol. II. School of the Battalion", Mobile, Alabama, S. H. Goetzel & Company, First Year of the Confederacy [1861], 224 pp. Rebound in modern brown leather. Generally a poor copy with missing page 15-16, scattered tape repairs, warping. An inscription on the fly leaf replicates or traces over a faint inscription that originally appeared there: "Non commissioned officers of Co. H 26th Regt N.C. Camp Magruder June 1, 64".
