    Description

Texas Confederate Soldier: Bowie Knife, Cap Pouch and Snake Buckle Rig.

Supple leather belt with Isaac Campbell & Company snake buckle, a cap/ammo pouch with Texas Star brass emblem secured with three prongs, a Bowie knife and scabbard. The knife is 12" long with no markings, a turned wooden grip and octagonal guard. Light surface rust. It is housed in the original 9" leather scabbard, lacking tip. The pouch is stamped with the initials of the original owner, J. P., on the outer wall. Make-do, period repairs to one belt loop. Partial loss to securing loop of outer cover. Scattered mildew and verdigris. The front side of the belt has a continuous undulating design within a roped border. A rare and desirable ensemble.
