Sixth Plate Tintype Portrait of an Identified Private of the 101st Ohio Infantry with Bowie Knife and Pepperbox Pistol. 2¾" x 3¼". Image of Private James M. Briggs, Co. F of the 101st Ohio Infantry. A particularly sharp image of Pvt. Briggs posed seated, clearly showing the detail of his kepi and uniform. His kepi's buckle and jacket's buttons and cuffs have been hand accented in gilt. The image clearly shows a Bowie knife and pepperbox pistol tucked in his belt. A contemporary annotation on the inside bottom lid of the case reads: "Livonia July 18th / 65/ J. M. Briggs". Housed in a leather case. James Briggs enlisted on August 8, 1862, as a private. He was listed as being a prisoner of war as of November 29, 1864, but the place and circumstances of his capture and where he was imprisoned is unknown. He did, however, muster out at Camp Chase on June 16, 1865.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
