Signed And Dated Watercolor By Master Titled "Southern Gentleman On The Skeedaddle From Prospect" Actual watercolor 6 3/8" X 8 1/8" on 9 1/4" X 11 5/8" mount. Titled by Master in brown ink script. Signed at lower left "Wm. Master / 2nd U. S. Arty" and dated in ink script at lower right "Jan. 26th 1864". Perfect condition with bright colors and no fading or foxing. As with the others executed more as a caricature than a 'from life' portrait and appears to be executed on heavy laid paper. Great image and apparently holding a blue army overcoat over his shoulder.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
