Pristine Condition British-Made Confederate Staff Officer's Sword. A beautiful and truly unique sword in remarkable condition, the 30 3/4" blade exhibiting just a few small dark spots, the remainder perfect with original luster. The obverse ricasso with brass inset disk marked "Proved", surrounded by a sunburst, the reverse ricasso with an etched shield. Both sides of the blade display two etched panels of leaves and scrolls, the central panels featuring an intertwined "CSA". The triple branch guard is cast with acanthus leaves on two branches and scroll floral work where the guard joins the pommel. The pommel uses acanthus leaves around the face. The entire hilt retains 98% of the original gilt, with the original leather washer. The sharkskin grip and twisted double wire wrap are perfect. The scabbard body features a browned lacquer finish with some minor surface roughness on the reverse side. The mounts display 100% original gilded finish.
A true rarity in pristine condition.
