    Description

    PONTOON BRIDGE ACROSS THE RAPPAHANNOCK (No. 32). Two of the bridges employed during the Battle of Fredericksburg, where the First and Sixth Corps crossed, are pictured in this sharp, panoramic view. Mount measures 11.75 by 10 inches and the 9 by 7 inch image is in fine condition and has wonderful clarity. Dated 1866 and noted "Negative by T. H. O'Sullivan" and "Positive by A. Gardner..." with the date taken: "May, 1863." The facing page has a small piece missing on the right side, just touching the text.
