Period, Possibly Factory, Engraved Colt M1851 Navy Revolver # 133045 Mfg. 1863. The gun exhibits mixed numbers with the frame and barrel being 133045, the trigger guard and grip strap 6212 and no number visible on the cylinder. Frame and barrel both profusely scroll engraved. Hammer also scroll engraved terminating in wolf's head. The front sight is an old replacement, as is the front trigger guard screw and missing the wedge screw. Metal generally smooth and clean, the lever, which is un-numbered, with light pitting overall. Cylinder smooth and gray with no scene or number. Excellent markings, including engraved seraphs bracketing the barrel address, very good bore. Main spring fine but the gun will not hold at cock. There is a modern name script engraved with an electric pencil on the bottom of the grip strap. Fitted with a set of period ivory grips, likely not original to the gun but very nice with deep mellow patina. An interesting '51 Navy.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
