P1853 Enfield .577 Caliber Percussion Rifled Musket, 1862 Tower. All metal smooth and dark, untouched, with just some pitting in the breech/ bolster area. Mechanically fine, good markings, good bore. Correct British proofs at breech. All brass furniture perfect with nice dark patina. Wood excellent with rich smooth patina, just some minor roughness near the nose cap and typical burned area behind the bolster attesting to the gun's honest use. There is some roughness and a small space around the lock aperture, the lock possibly being a correct period replacement. The gun is accompanied by the original socket bayonet which is very fine with dark smooth patina matching the gun. Good representative example of this rifled musket, used extensively by both sides during the Civil War.
