Late Civil War Brass Artillery Bugle by Stratton & Foote New York City. 19" overall including mouthpiece. There is an adjusting clamp at the mouth piece aperture, and reinforcement at the turn of the single twist. Nicely marked on the bell "Stratton & Foote / Military Instruments / New York." Also nicely engraved on the lower portion of the bell, in 1/4" block letters, is 3rd N. J. Light Artillery, which we do not believe to be period. A few minor small dents, and some bends on the edge of the bell but overall excellent condition. Retains what appears to be the original red woven silk artillery cord with wooden core tassels. Obvious signs, from the patina underneath, of its presence on the bugle from the period of use. Nice Civil War bugle.
