    Jefferson Davis: Sterling Silver Child's Plate Presented to the Great-Grandson of Jefferson Davis, c.1906. The small sterling silver plate measures 6 inches in diameter and is engraved "To the first / Great Grandson / of the /Southern Confederacy. / Dec. 17, 1906". Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy, never lived to see his first great-grandson, Gerald Bertram Webb, Jr. who was born in 1906. The plate has a beaded border and was made by Gorham. The back is engraved "From / M.R.M.R.". This and the other Davis family silver pieces were obtained directly from lineal descendants of Jefferson Davis and Varina Howell Davis.
