    J. E. B. Stuart: From-Life Period Photograph. Classic 5.25" x 7.5" salt print photograph of Confederate cavalry commander James Ewell Brown "Jeb" Stuart (1833-1864). The celebrated general wears knee-high boots, gauntlets, dress sash, while clutching his saber and ostrich plume adorned hat. Stuart served under Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. He fought at the Peninsula Campaign, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg and was mortally wounded in 1864 at the Battle of Yellow Tavern. This rare photograph has been affixed to a plain photographer's mount which has been irregularly trimmed, matted and framed. There are two very faint stains on his gloved hand and the bottom of his coat, plus some rippling to the image. The portrait itself is very clear with excellent detail.
