    Description

Impressive Battle of Gettysburg Engraver's Proof. 36" x 24" [sight] engraving titled: "The Battle of Gettysburg July 1st, 2nd, 3rd -1863". It was based on a painting by Peter Frederick Rothermel and engraved by John Sartain. It is designed an "Engraver's Proof" and signed by Sartain in pencil in the lower right corner. A few minor border tears, creases and abrasions plus some very faint vertical tape bleed-through in the clouds, top center. Overall appearance quite nice. Gilt liner, velvet mat and custom-designed wood frame made by Newcomb Macklin of Chicago.
