Description
Impressive 34-Star Civil War Era Flag. 93" x 65" cotton flag with 34 stars (January 29, 1861-June 20, 1863). Completely hand-stitched with cut-out five-pointed stars on both sides. The stars are arranged in an unusual pattern consisting of a central star surrounded by a circular cluster of stars contained within an outer circle of stars. There are no markings. It was displayed in the Pittsburgh office of the consignor's grandfather up until 1929. There is minor fraying to the top edge of the canton, a split and a tear in the canton, and a tear in the upper right corner of the flag. The condition, overall, is really quite nice.Auction Info
