    Identification Badge For Isaac L. Eldred, Siege Battalion, 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery. German silver, 25mm x 32mm, shield design (much like 9th Corp badge in form), pinback. Beautifully engraved on the front: ""Lee Elderd / Siege Bat. / M / 1st Conn. Art.". Eldred enlisted on January 24, 1864 as a private and shortly thereafter mustered into M Company of the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery. The 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery played an important role in the fighting at the Battle of Gettysburg and the Siege of Petersburg. A beautiful example in excellent condition.
