Hood's Texas Brigade UCV Ribbon Grouping. Five Confederate veteran ribbons built around the Kentucky-born Lieutenant General John Bell Hood. Included are the following:
"John B. Hood Camp. U. C. V." white silk ribbon, 2.25" x 8". Two splits, browning and lightly frayed edges. An early veterans' item. Good condition.
"John B. Hood Camp No. 103 Austin, Texas", red and black silk ribbon with hanger, 2.5" x 9". A bi-face ribbon with a red front and black back. The verso gives the same UCV camp information as the front but adds "In Memorium". A celluloid escutcheon showing clasped hands serves as the hanger while gold tassels are affixed to the bottom. Fragile with numerous splits, Fair condition.
"44th Reunion Hood's Texas Brigade Floresville, Texas October 13 - 14, 1915", double swallow-tail red, white and blue ribbon below brass hanger frame and affixed with a Texas star. Light aging, else fine condition.
"Annual Reunion Hood's Texas Brigade 1904," 2.25" x 7.5", red ribbon below a celluloid button featuring Hood's portrait and a brass frame hanger. Some stains, else very fine condition.
"U. C. V." in wreath white ribbon, 2" x 4.25", with 45mm celluloid of Confederate battleflag below. Splits on ribbon and stains on the celluloid. Very good condition. A nice thematic lot of scarce U. C. V. items, most of which are directly associated with Hood's famed Texas Brigade.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
