    Description

Grouping of Civil War Era Embroidery. This grouping of material includes a set of Civil War officer's hat cords of the "machined" variety seen in the Schuyler, Hartley, and Graham catalogue of 1864, made of gold metallic and black thread. The cords show actual use with some fading and tarnishing but are very sound. Also with the assemblage are: an infantry officer's hat insignia with a medium blue stiff wool base having a metal simulated embroidered bugle pinned in the center with the regimental numerals "95" in the bend, a large embroidered "star" possibly from an epaulet measuring 2" from point-to-point, an oval hat badge with a gold wreath and silver lettering "N.Y.C.S./ CORPS" embroidered on black velvet, and a 1.5" diameter dark blue wool circlet on which is embroidered a gold "V" with the numerals "23" intertwined.
