    Description

Grouping Includes Excellent Pennsylvania Veteran Corps Badge. Among these three postwar badges is the wonderful gold insignia of the First Veteran Corps, Pennsylvania National Guard. Measuring 1.25" across, the emblem consists of a gold cross with crossed muskets. On the arms are embedded the motto "PARATUS" in blue enamel along with "N/G/P" for National Guard of Pennsylvania. Affixed to the center is a wonderfully rendered miniature silver knapsack with gold strapping and the number "1" underneath which is a raised blue enamel "V." The reverse has its t-bar clasp and the engraved name Albert D. Fell. Fell had served in the Civil War as a member of Co. G, 7th Pa. Vol. Infantry during the Antietam emergency. The Veteran Corps sprang up after the war from veterans who had been members of the pre-war Washington Grays and is still in existence today as the veterans organization for the Guard's 103rd Engineer Regiment. A very attractive, historic and scarce badge.

Also with the badge is another that combines the symbols for the 9th, 10th, 18th and 24th Army Corps. It measures 1.5" across and has an attractive red, white, and blue enamel finish. The fastening device is missing. There is also a miniature cavalry "crossed sabers" lapel pin.
