    Frederick Douglass et al: Noted Abolitionists. Seven items related to abolitionists of note. Includes a slip of paper mounted on thick paper stock reading: "Very truly yours Frederick Douglass. 1888", a clipped signature of Wendell Phillips, a small sheet of writing paper signed "Yours Thaddeus Stevens Penna.", an 1854 ALS of Charles Sumner acknowledging the receipt of a quotation of Andrew Jackson indicating that the quote will be applicable for some future occasion, a cabinet card of Sumner by Warren of Boston, an 1856 4-page ALS of Charles Sumner written to General William H. Sumner shortly after the outrageous attack by Preston Brooks, declining an invitation to a banquet due to his poor health ("I hope to leave for Washington in a few days - to reach there by early stage - & under medical command to avoid all exciting influences."), an 1864 2-page ALS of Charles Sumner requesting a from-life photograph of John Brown or a print of Brown. Sold together with two engraved book plates of Sumner and an engraved book plate featuring showing "Eminent Opponents of the Slave Power".
