    Description

    Five Dug Civil War Waist Belt or Cartridge Box Plates. As follows: (1) 1839 pattern U.S. cartridge box brass plate, deep brown patina, both loops present, back shows pitting in the lead. Dug at Kennesaw Mtn in 1994. (2) 1839 pattern brass U.S. cartridge box plate, dark patina, no loops, lead is pitted. White ink on the front reads "Middle Bridge/ Antietam, Md." (3) 1839 pattern brass waist belt plate, arrow hooks and tongue are present, lead back has turned white. Shows slight loss to the face which is labeled "Cedar Creek/ JWA". (4)1839 pattern brass waist belt plate, dark front and back, puppy paw stubs and tongue are present. Face shows losses. (5) 1839 pattern cartridge box plate, face is bent and shows losses, no loops. Back and front are both labeled "Culps Hill".
