    Fine Quality Cased Set of Belgian Percussion Target Pistols, Circa 1845. Guns 14.25 " overall with . 60 caliber 9.125" octagonal barrels. The barrels are finely rifled and flare dramatically toward the muzzle. Patent breech with ELG proof on the side, flip up rear sight, dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable triggers. silver wedge and wrist escutcheons. The barrels are generally smooth and gray while the patent breeches display some case colors. All iron mountings including elaborate trigger guard with finger rest, decoratively edged side plate and butt cap of of which display bright case colors. Burl walnut stocks with finely checkered grips and crisp relief carved leaf like details at the butt cap and barrel tang. The area opposite the lock on one gun with some dents and a few worm holes else fine, while the other gun is about perfect. Single screw locks display some case colors, the one gun marked in script engraving "A Nantes" and the other "Blof Jne". Magnificent burl wood case with gilt brass mountings including key and lid escutcheons, lid somewhat warped, else fine and a magnificent piece of wood. Padded lid lined with green wool, the edges exhibiting gilt embossed red Moroccan leather. The French style casing also lined with green wool and gilt embossed red Moroccan leather. Accessories include vent pick, wooden bullet starter mallet, oiler, brass tipped wooden ramrod and cleaning jag, exceptional copper bag flask embossed with a panoply of hunting arms/ accessories, with Paris maker's name at base and removable brass cap. All accessories about perfect. The bullet mold and screw driver are missing. A very attractive cased set of pistols with several exhibiting several unusual and desirable details.
