    Exceptionally Nice Group of Civil War Battlefield-Recovered Accouterment Plates. Includes: U.S. M1851 officer's sword belt plate recovered at Beverly's Ford attributed to Buford's cavalry at Brandy Station; a Civil War carbine sling buckle marked "U.S. T. J. Shepherd, E. Gaylord"; Confederate sheet iron waist belt plate, 1.9" x 3.26", thin sheet iron rolled over an iron core with raised border and single 3/8" wide strip bent over at both ends, recovered at Fredericksburg; an M1851 enlisted/ NCO sword belt plate recovered at Atlanta missing the lower portion of the wreath; an M1826 circular eagle cross shoulder belt plate with double iron wire hooks retaining a portion of the leather, unlocated; a complete U.S. M1855 rifleman's belt buckle, unlocated; a U.S. oval ctg. box plate missing the hooks recovered at Spotsylvania; an M1826 circular U.S. ctg. box sling/ breastplate recovered in The Wilderness; and an M1839 "puppy paw" oval U.S. belt plate retaining a portion of the leather recovered in the area of Gibbon's Division, 2nd Corps at Cold Harbor. All pieces in excellent, untouched, relic condition and a great group.
