    Dr. G. W. Bagby, editor. Four Issues of Southern Literary Messenger. Richmond: MacFarlane & Fergusson, 1863. Includes issues for March, April, May and August of 1863. Bound in paper wraps with ornate titles. All issues complete though some of the covers are loose and the contents are generally toned and foxed. Otherwise all are in good condition. Three issues signed on the front cover "P. H. Pendleton, Fredericks Hall, Va.". The Pendleton's were related to Confederate William N. Pendleton and "Sandie" Pendleton.
