Confederate Soldiers Parole, Amnesty Oath and More. Two end-of-war documents, measuring 8" x 10" and 8 1/2" x 11", signed by a Southern soldier. The first is a "Parole of Honor" from P.O.W. David Rhisse who served in the Trans-Mississippi Department under General E. Kirby Smith when he surrendered to Union General Canby. Signed at Galveston, Texas on August 8, 1865. The larger document was signed by Rhisse at Houston, Texas on August 2, 1865 and is titled "Amnesty Oath." Some expert repairs and restoration to the latter. Rhisse is described as a 33-year old merchant from Cooke County, Texas. Sold together with four additional CSA documents: 1) May 13, 1865 parole signed by P.O.W. Jonathan Rodheard with restoration to top. 2) March 23, 1865 C.S.A. Quartermaster's Department railroad bill of lading. 3) August 6, 1864 Danville Railroad pass for Lt. J. C. New (restoration to one corner). 4) September 8, 1864 pass for W. E. H. Claggett to travel to Manchester within a 30-day time frame. A nice group of Confederate paper.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
