Confederate Requisition Signed By Gen. Turner Ashby. 8" X 10" pre printed form filled out in ink script, dated 7 March 1862 at Winchester, Va. for "Waggon (sic) harness, one saddle and one lead line". Request made and signed by "R. P. Chew Capt. Art." and approved by "Turner Ashby Col" Commanding.
Chew was the commander of Chew's Battery, the first battery of Confederate horse artillery, which was organized by Ashby. Ashby would receive his Brigadier's star on May 23, 1862 and was killed June 6. His untimely early demise resulting in his autograph on official Confederate documents being rather scarce. Perfect condition.
