    Comprehensive Archive of Material Belonging to Sgt. William Glime, 68th Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry. William Glime (1840-1915) enlisted as a private on December 1, 1861. Shortly thereafter he mustered into G Company of the Ohio 68th Infantry. He rose through the ranks and ended the war a 1st Sergeant. He mustered out of the army at Louisville, Kentucky on July 10, 1865. This extensive lot includes: 1) Twelve CDV images of general officers and officers, presumably from the 68th Ohio, a few are identified, and one is signed by an officer of the regiment, lieutenant L. W. Richardson. Generals include Ulysses Grant, W. T. Sherman, Robert Kingston Scott and S. M. Fouree. 2) an album with nineteen CDV images of presumably Glime's family and few Civil War patriotic images. 3) Glime's Hymn-Book for the Army and Navy, published by the American Tract Society in New York. 4) Glime's brass stencil with "Wm. Glime/ Co. G. 68.O.V.V.I". 5) a Co. G. 68 Ohio Vol. Inf. ladder badge. 6) Three images of Glime at various ages including a cased sixth plate tintype of a younger Glime; a tinted sixth plate tintype of Glime wearing a top hat and appearing to take a pinch of snuff, and a studio portrait of Glime in old age. 7) Eight Ohio GAR badges, buttons, and ribbons (conditions vary). 8) A commission document appointed Glime to 1st Sergeant, dated January 28, 1862. 9) Two memorial documents , one with a roster for Company G; the other with Glime's discharge (has a long central tear which needs to be repaired). 10) A black cabinet card announcing Glime's death on November 8, 1915. All items are in very good condition unless noted.
