    Civil War US M1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword Horstmann Phila 31 1/2" slightly curved blade with somewhat worn etching one half its length. Obverse etched with scroll / leaf and panoply of arms and W.H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia forward the ricasso, the reverse with similar decoration. Blade generally bright with light minor pitting along the lower edge. Regulation pierced hilt perfect with typical US and leaf / scroll motifs. Sharkskin grip with some spots of honest wear but very good with original triple wire wrap. Steel scabbard with excellent original brown finish and two minor shallow dents. Scalloped brass mounts with cast leaf motif ring mounts, drag has a series of dents on one side, brass throat. Nice honest example of regulation Civil War officer's sword.
